Our Environment

"If all the insects were to disappear from the earth, within 50 years all life on earth would end.   If all human beings disappeared from the earth, within 50 years all forms of life would flourish" Jonas Salk

The role human beings play in the evolution of our environment is key, we have a major responsibility in directing the evolution of our planet. The most notable trait that separates man from animal is our freedom of choice, as humans we have two choices; to sustain nature or to destroy it. This freedom of choice weighs on the entire fate of our planet and it is a divorce from nature that is our planets biggest threat.

Our divorce from nature

Our divorce from nature stems from within, from the mind-set of the collective, from the very thought that we are somewhat separate from nature. Yes big businesses have led the way with agricultural, industrial and technological revolution but it is with us, with our thoughts and attitudes towards nature that determines the quality of our decisions and inevitably our behaviour. A sudden realisation that we are nature and an integral part of it must occur, only then will we see humans acting in a way that benefits the interdependent eco-system we call earth.

As much as all of these are vital, most importantly to bring a balance back we must change ourselves in order to change our environment, better decisions and behaviors need to be made. This change must occur through a refinement of our thoughts and attitudes towards nature. What the majority must realise is that we are indeed nature and we must bring balance back to the system.

The engine of life is linkage, there is nothing that is self sufficient, sharing is everything and our earth relies on a balance where every being has a role to play and exists only through the existence of another being. Earth's natural way and its subtle and fragile harmony must be treated with the utmost respect, it's the only place we have to live!

"Money is not the wealth, the wealth is the organised technological capability to protect, nurture, educate and accomodate the forward date of humans, whereas money is only a medium of exchange and a cash accounting system. Although the money has become monopolised by the supranational corporations which through legal abstractions ignore the problem of how to protect an nuture human lives" - Dr Richard Buckminster Fuller
