Our Environment
"If all the insects were to disappear from the earth, within 50 years all life on earth would end. If all human beings disappeared from the earth, within 50 years all forms of life would flourish" Jonas Salk
The role human beings play in the evolution of our environment is key, we have a major responsibility in directing the evolution of our planet. The most notable trait that separates man from animal is our freedom of choice, as humans we have two choices; to sustain nature or to destroy it. This freedom of choice weighs on the entire fate of our planet and it is a divorce from nature that is our planets biggest threat.
Our divorce from nature
Our divorce from nature stems from within, from the mind-set of the collective, from the very thought that we are somewhat separate from nature. Yes big businesses have led the way with agricultural, industrial and technological revolution but it is with us, with our thoughts and attitudes towards nature that determines the quality of our decisions and inevitably our behaviour. A sudden realisation that we are nature and an integral part of it must occur, only then will we see humans acting in a way that benefits the interdependent eco-system we call earth.
